Originally built in 1882, Moore's Old Pine Inn (then called The Pines Hotel) is the oldest running Hotel/Inn in the state of Utah.
The Pines Hotel has had guests of western influence including outlaw Butch Cassidy and western writer Zane Grey, who wrote "Riders of the Purple Sage" while staying here. New York Times Newspapers from 1882 are still glued to the rafters.
In 1869, two prospectors found waterfalls, the mysterious remains of an old arrastra (possibly Spanish in origin), and gold. Then, the Bullion Canyon gold rush began. Marysvale was also at the end of the historic Denver and Rio Grand Railroad. This made Marysvale both a railroad and gold mining town.
In 1993, the Inn was purchased by former Owners/Innkeepers Randy & Katie Moore. They spent (2) years doing renovation work. They gave a lot of attention to the details and decorating themes. They rented their first rooms inside the Inn in August of 1995 and have built a growing guest base every year since. The new owners, Rodney and Julie Mayo, look to continue the amazing service and care that Randy and Katie are famous for.
